Police yesterday recovered the body of a child from a field under Harinakundu upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Asad, 7, son of Dulal Uddin, of Kapashtia village of the upazila. Asad went missing last Friday, family sources said.
Duty Officer, Nirab Hossain of Harinakundu police station said, Asad was abducted on Friday afternoon while he was playing in a field near his house. Locals spotted the body and informed police who recovered it later.
Unidentified criminals a couple of days ago allegedly killed Asad, said police. The reason behind the abduction is yet to be known. The body was sent to Jhenaidah sadar hospital morgue.
