Pro-hartal activists vandalised some 10 vehicles, including seven belonging to the Dhaka Tribune, in city’s Panthapath area on Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses said a procession of Shibir activists, carrying a banner in support of the hartal, vandalised 10 vehicles while parading through the area, including seven of the Dhaka Tribune just outside its office at about 5:20pm.
Shahjahan, a security guard, said: "Some 20 people holding the banner of Chhatra Shibir entered the area and started vandalising vehicles stationed in front of the Dhaka Tribune office and tried to torch one. Later, they paraded towards Panthapath intersection."
They also exploded two crude bombs and left the place immediately.
On information, police and Rapid Action Battlion (Rab) personnel rushed in and drove the unruly pickets away.
