A Brazilian man died after a cow fell through the roof on him and narrowly missed his wife in the south-eastern Brazilian town of Caratinga, BBC reported Saturday.
The cow, that weighed one tonne, was grazing on a hill behind the man’s house when it stepped on the asbestos roof which couldn’t take the weight and hence collapsed.
Joao Maria de Souza, 45, was taken to the hospital after the incident and died after a day of internal bleeding.
The BBC website reported that Souza appeared fine after the incident and was thought to be in good condition, but relatives complained that it took too long for him to be checked by the doctor.
According to local media, this is the third of such an incident in the last three years, though the last two incidents didn’t have any casualties.
While in the first incident there was no one in the house when the cow fell, in the second incident a cow fell, miraculously missing a baby and small child who were sleeping in the room.
