Two alleged robbers were killed in a gunfight between their cohorts and the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Andharmanik in the deep forest of Sundarban Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as gang leader Md Reazul alias Dalim and one of his associates Kalam Khan. Their ages and other details could not be known immediately.
The gunfight took place between the gang named “Rezaul Bahini” and members of Rab-8 in a canal of Boro Tengra Tila in Andharmanik in Sundarban.
After the gunfight that lasted around 40 minutes, the robbers fled away from the scene, leaving bodies of Reazul and Kalam.
Members of the law enforcers also recovered seven firearms and nine bullets from the spot, said Captain Abhisheikh Ahmed of the Legal and Media wing of Rab.
A Rab official claimed that more than a hundred rounds of bullets were exchanged during the fight.
