Miscreants abducted five staff of state-owned mobile operator Teletalk from Barbindughat area under Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati Monday night.
Confirming the matter, Additional Police Super Habibur Rahman said the identity of the victims could not be known immediately.
Local sources said a group of armed miscreants kidnapped the Teletalk staff while they were working on a tower.
Sources said the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Army personnel, and officials of Baghaichhari police station are conducting a combined operation to rescue the staff.
Local sources said three political organisations of hill people, Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS), UPDF and JSS-reformist have offices in the area, reports banglanews.
Earlier, three employees of another mobile operator, Grameenphone, were abducted from the area.
