The Rajshahi regional committee of the Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation has called its indefinite transport strike off in the Rajshahi division after a discussion with the divisional commissioner and the police administration, Bogra Motor Sramik Union President Abdul Latif and Truck Workers’ Union President Abdul Mannan confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune.
The administration has accepted three out of the ten demands made by the federation. The three demands are as follows: driving licenses must be made available on easy terms, the plying of unauthorised vehicles like Karimon-Nasimon must be banned, and BRTA must not legalise any transport owners’ documents without the appointment of workers.
Last week the secretary of the committee, Kamal Hossain Robi, enforced the strike at a press conference at the Bogra Press Club on the 26th of June.
