Update : 28 Jun 2013, 02:50 PM

No progress has been made so far in the investigation of Schoolboy Imon’s brutal killing, even after seven days of recovering his body.

On June 21, police recovered nine pieces of Imon Hossain’s body nine days after he went missing. The boy age 14 was the son of Ismail Hossain of Char Radhanagar village, from the same village.

Though police interrogated Mamun Mia, 24, son of Shiraj Mia and Ayesha Begum, 30, wife of Amanullah, in this connection, they could not extract any clues regarding the killing.

Imon, a class six student of the Kanainagar High School, had gone missing on June 13. Later police recovered nine pieces of his body from a paddy field.

Police said the criminals slaughtered the boy and hid the body after slicing it into nine pieces.

Meanwhile, on June 23, agitated locals torched Shiraj Mia’s house suspecting that he was involved in the killing. Baktabali river police outpost in charge, also the investigator of the murder case, Sub-Inspector Nazmul Alam said the killing might have been committed over previous enmity, adding that some neighbours went into hiding after the recovery of Imon’s body.

Ismail Hossain, the deceased’s father, filed a murder case accusing ten people, most of whom are his neighbours. Family members of the deceased said they had been fearing an enmity attack for the past year, adding that as a precaution, they sent one of Imon’s brothers abroad and another to his maternal uncle’s house in Munshiganj. Ismail said the fear arouse following an arbitration altercation with his neighbours over a year ago.
