Probuddha Raha, a popular and revered exponent from India, will present an array of Tagore’s timeless songs from “Gitanjali’’ today at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Gulshan-1 at 6:30pm.
As part of the centenary celebrations of the award of Noble Prize to Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore for “Gitanjali,” IGCC is organising the show.
Prabuddha Raha is one of the most acknowledged Rabindra Sangeet singers and has been increasingly appreciated by discerning audience both in India and abroad. Prabuddha Raha was trained training in Rabindra Sangeet under Acharya Sailajaranjan Majumdar and was trained in classical music under the tutelage of Prof Debiranjan Bandyopadhyay. He, thereafter, released his CD, “Hriday Jamuna,” with Soumitra Chatterjee, Aparna Sen, and Jayashree Dasgupta with the script written by eminent filmmaker late Rituparno Ghosh.
In 2003, Raha released his solo Tagore Album with narration by Goutam Ghosh, the celebrated film director. In Sunil Gangopadhyay’s muse Nira, the talented singer was chosen to sing on the same platform shared Sunil Gangopadhyaya and Soumitra Chatterjee.
