A two-day music festival at the Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi began yesterday with the performances of the talented students of the organisation. AFD and the Embassy of France in Bangladesh jointly organised the event in celebrating the “World Music Day 2013.”
On the first day, the students and teachers presented melodious performances of piano, western classical guitar, saxophone and songs of different languages expressing solidarity with the world of music. Child artist Oisharjo amused the audience by playing piano with a praiseworthy command on the instrument. Ludowig Streabbog and Cornelius Gurlitt sang songs titled “The Fair” and “Little Fairy Waltz” respectively. Aveen Ali entertained the listeners by his solo performance on piano and then again they were moved by Imran Hossen Joy’s guitar presentation. Rahin and Jahin’s duet performance on saxophone and guitar respectively was another treat for the audience.
Jérôme Charbonneau, Deputy Director, French Courses and training, Alliance Française de Dhaka inaugurated the two days long event at 4pm yesterday.
Today, a number of bands will present songs of different genres. Today’s show will begin at 4pm and the bands are: Cardboard, Benziin, Lamppost, The Bridge, Warda with Friends, Monoshoroni and Abol Tabol.
The theme for the “World Music Day” this year is “the voice.” The voice may take different forms – tone colors, chords and accents, which evolve through time, geography and cultures.
