2 siblings killed in Jessore temple collapse

Two siblings were killed as a wall of a nearly 300-year-old temple collapsed on them in Chachra area of the district town on Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Nirod Kumar Ghosh, 70 and Shibapod Ghosh, 60, sons of Panchanan Ghosh.

Witnesses said some Hindu community people lived in the abandoned temple which was built in 1729. A wall of the temple collapsed on two of them at around 10pm on Wednesday.

Later, locals rushed Shibapad to Jessore Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

On information, Jessore Fire Service Station and Kotwali police station officials rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Nirod.

Kotwali Model police station Officer-in-charge Emdadul Haque Sheikh confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
