Police arrested Jamaat leader and UP Chairman of Muria union parishad Abul Khair, 45, at the Shahid Tila area in Beanibazar upazilla in Sylhet yesterday.
Sabbir Ahmed Sibli, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar, said that a case had been filed accusing Khair of assaulting law enforcers in Siddirgonj upazilla, under Narayanganj, and that he would be made to appear before the court soon.
Khair served as the Naeb-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islam’s Beanibazar upazilla unit.
