Zobera Rahman Linu, the Guinness World Record holder of winning more national table tennis championships than any other player, became the sports ambassador of Walton yesterday.
The two-year deal was signed in a simple ceremony at the conference room of the BNS. As per the deal Linu will represent Walton in the local and overseas sports meets. Linu will receive a monthly remuneration of Tk20,000 and other facilities during the accomplishment of her role.
Linu thanked Walton for stepping ahead and honouring her. “It is not the money, but the honour. I feel I will be able to contribute towards helping
females in choosing sports as a resource of life. Moreover it is a double delight for me as this year I have completed my 40th year in the sports arena,” said Linu.
She also said her dream of forming a table tennis academy, which would be located in Narail, will also be boosted.
SM Zahid Hasan, the executive director, operative director Uday Hakim, additional director FM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn and deputy director Firoz Alam were also present on the occasion.
