Update : 19 Jun 2013, 04:18 AM

The government has made a work-plan to keep prices of daily essentials stable across the country during the holy month of Ramadan, beginning from July 10.

A set of steps is underway to control the market by deploying law-enforcing agencies and activating the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), according to the work plan taken up by the commerce ministry.

The ministry will form a 14-member team to monitor the market in the capital Dhaka on daily basis and keep law-enforcing agencies vigilant.

Steps underway to ban export of green chili, brinjal and cucumber during the month, said a commerce ministry official. Besides, the government already wrote to all district commissioners and Inspector General of Police to take necessary actions in this regard, he said.

The government is continuously monitoring the supply and price of daily essentials so the commodity price remains stable and the efforts will be strengthened from July 1, he said.
