Replying to a query, Haque said: “The country has earned Tk1,9000m by exporting pharmaceutical products since 2009.”
Bangladesh is exporting medicines to 87 countries of the world including USA and UK, he said while responding to a tabled question by Chemon Ara Begum (Women's Seat-9).
Dr Ruhal Haque said the pharmaceutical industry is now a rapidly expanding sector in the country and local manufacturers are now able to meet the country’s 95-97% demand of medicine.
He also stated the government has been working with Bangladesh Aushadh Shilpa Samity, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the Foreign Ministry, Bangladesh missions abroad and other organizations to expand the medicine export market.
