At least 30 garment workers were hospitalised on Monday night after falling sick after having dinner served by the factory authorities at Fatullah in sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Hospital sources said authorities of Liberty Garment and Midland Knitwear factories in Khaterpool area served eggs and bread to the female workers of the night shift around 9:15pm.
After having the food, the workers fell sick and started vomiting. Later, 30 workers were admitted to Narayanganj General (Victoria) Hospital.
Civil surgeon Dr Dulal Chandra Chowdhury said excessive heat might have caused food poisoning but the workers are now out of danger.
On Sunday, more than a hundred workers of a garment factory in Gazipur district fell ill after drinking water from a tap inside the factory .
