A housewife allegedly committed suicide after killing her mother-in-law at Padampur village in Ranisankail upazila, Thakurgaon early Sunday, reported UNB.
The victims were identified as Beauty Akter, 28, wife of Ariful Islam and his mother Afroja Khatun, 45, of the village.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Ranisankoil police station Firoj Khan said local people informed police as they, despite repeated attempts, did not get any hint about the presence of the two women in their rooms till 10am on Sunday.
Later the law enforces after breaking open the doors of the house recovered hanging body of Beauty Akter and blood-stained body of her mother-in-law Afroja Khatun at about 12pm, added the OC.
The bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy. Superintendent of Police Foysal Mahmud of the district and the Ranisankail upazila nirbahi officer visited the spot.
Locals said they used to often quarrel over trifling matters. They both slept in the same room after ending an altercation on Saturday night.
Beauty might have killed her mother-in-law first and then took her own life to give vent to her anger over the quarrel, the locals suspected.
