A sixteen-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by setting herself to fire to get relief from the torture and oppression of social influential following a love affair.
Victim Tapoti Mandol died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) burn and plastic surgery unit on Friday 10 days after she was admitted there with severe burn injures ten days ago. Family members of the victim went back to their native village after autopsy at the DMCH morgue with help of Sahabagh police of the capital.
Our Correspondent in Satkhira reported: Tapoti was the daughter of Subol Mandol of Gangnia village of Satkhira. She was tortured and beaten badly by the local UP member Mosharraf Hossain Neuton on June 3 after her affair with Milon Mandol, son of Gongaram Mandol of the same village was made public.
Tapoti poured kerosene on herself and set fire next day as she could not bear the assault.
