Utsho, an organisation for helping deprived children get quality education, arranged a musical show Friday called “Utsho Sangeet Sondha 2013” to raise funds for their school Utsho Bidyaniketon, residential school for underprivileged children. Super star Kumar Biswajit entertained the crowd at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
He performed his ever popular numbers and also several requested songs by the audience. “All my performances are to please my audience, my music is for their pleasure,” says the gifted star. Kumar Biswajit is one of the most renowned singers of our country who won the National Award twice.
The Gemini born on first June considers the procurement of many viewers and listeners as his biggest achievement and describes his best asset “the love of my fans and some good songs.”
Another singer of the show was the “Close-up 1” winner Putul, whose melodious songs and mesmerising voice enthralled the gathered crowd.
Utsho Bangladesh is a grassroots, community based organisation enabling access to basic human rights for marginalised women and children. UTSHO’s vision is to ensure all human beings have the right to survive, access to free healthcare and education and are free from all oppression.
The guiding principles of Utsho have been the addressing of human rights issues, providing sustainable education to marginalised children within a caring environment, and maintaining a transparent management structure. Utsho offers formal and informal education.
It teaches children to respect women, most importantly to respect themselves and to overcome their suffering of identity crisis and traumatic backgrounds. There are also accommodation facilities available for the economically disadvantaged children in Bangladesh.
Since eighteen years, Utsho has been operating three schools, two of which are residential and one non-residential, all under the name ‘Utsho Bidyaniketon’.
They have 138 students from the three schools combined. It is a sanctuary where the basic needs of the children are taken care of and where they can concentrate on their studies without being subjected to external stresses.
