The Korean Ambassador Cup Taekwondo Championship comprising of 250 male and 200 female participants starts at the National Sports Council tomorrow. The two-day meet, sponsored by the South Korean Embassy in Dhaka, will host a total of 26 weight categories for the participants of the 22 teams from across the country. Foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni will inaugurate the meet as the chief guest. Lee Yun Young, the ambassador of South Korean in Bangladesh, will also be present as the chief guest. Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury, the managing director of Trust Bank, will also be present as a guest on the occasion. Mahmudul Islam Rana, the general secretary of Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation, hoped that the meet will inspire the participants to put their best effort. “The participants recently took part in the Bangladesh Games and they are in good shape. The meet will be a highly competitive one,” expressed Rana.
