Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” had a grand opening this weekend. The film collected Rs621.1m nett in opening weekend, more than what Salman Khan strarrer Dabangg 2 had collected.
On Friday, May 31, with a total of Rs194.5 million, the earnings for the film rose slightly to Rs201.6 million on Saturday June 1 and Rs225 million on Sunday June 2. Ayan Mukherji’s second film may well be the next film to join Rs1 billion (Rs100 crore) club!
“Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” has also emerged as Ranbir and Deepika’s biggest opener in the overseas market, overtaking Ranbir Kapoor’s “Barfi!” In New Zealand, the film collected NZ$80,648 (Rs3.633 million) on 10 screens in opening weekend.
In USA and Canada, it collected $1,651,000 (Rs93.3 million) on 162 screens in its opening weekend.
