The suspension order issued against the former bridge division secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan for his alleged involvement in the Padma bridge scam has been withdrawn as he is out of jail on bail.
A public administration ministry order on Tuesday said Mosharraf had been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
Mosharraf was suspended on December 26 last year after a case was filed against him and six others.
The OSD order reads: the Anti-Corruption Commission had filed a case with the Banani police station on December 17 last year against the former bridge division secretary in line with Section 161 and 120(B) of the ACC Act and Section 5(2) of the Corruption Prevention Act of 1947.
Mosharraf was arrested and sent to the jail. The ministry suspended him while he was in the jail. “As the secretary has been [released from jail] on bail, the authority has withdrawn the suspension order,” the order said.
Mosharraf is one of the seven who were charged with “conspiracy for corruption in the Padma bridge project” regarding the alleged undue favour given to a Canadian firm SNC-Lavalin for the contract as a supervising consultant for the country’s largest infrastructure project.
Meanwhile, the public administration ministry Tuesday suspended AZM Sharzil Hassan, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Shibganj in the Chapainawabganj district, for violating service rules of civil administration.
