The government has announced raises between 24% to 36% in the basic salaries of lower court judges in the revised pay scale and fixed the highest salary at Tk36,000 and the minimum at Tk16,000.
Finance Division yesterday issued a gazette notification signed by the Finance Secretary Fazla Kabir to this effect. The raise is in accordance with the National Pay Scale 2009.
The raise impacts additional, joint, senior and assistant district court judges, civil court judges at the district level, session judges, metropolitan judges and assistant judges, law ministry sources said.
The revised pay scale for judges will be implemented with retrospective effect from July 1, 2009.
The revised gross salary for second grade judiciary officers will be Tk37,000. Third grade gross salary will be Tk37,000, fourth grade gross salary Tk34,200, fifth grade salary Tk29,200 and sixth grade gross salary Tk25,600.
