Indian union minister Rajiv Shukla has resigned as Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman in the wake of recent controversies over the spot-fixing scandal, reports the new Indian express.
While coming up with the declaration, he said he has decided to quit in the wake of recent controversies.
Shukla has also mentioned that he made this decision after taking into account the resignations of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Ajay Shirke and BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale.
With the spot-fixing saga catching more heat by the day, Shukla's resignation comes as a big blow to Srinivasan who has defied calls for resignation.
Indian minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Planning, journalist, political commentator and television host- Rajeev Shukla is a multi-faceted personality who has achieved much success in concerned fields.
Shukla started off his career as a reporter with a leading publication in Uttar Pradesh.
In his association with the Board of Control for Cricket in India he has been elected three times as the vice president and has also capably served as the Chairman, Media Committee/ Finance committee & several other essential sub-committees of the Board.
He has also served as secretary and spokesperson in AICC and contributed immensely in co-ordinating with states. Currently, he is spokesperson for the Indian union government and the Party.
