“Savar Aid,” a concert organised to help the Savar Victims will be staged at The Platinum Suites Friday at 5pm. Celebrated singers Arnob, Elita, Shafin Ahmed and Armeen Musa and bands Blunderware, 12AM and Overture will entertain the crowd.
The concert is a joint endeavor of a collective group of musicians and event management companies such as Sonic Media, Exito Events, The Entertainments, Event Crafts and The Musicians’ Alliance.
This is the third show under the same banner “Savar Aid,” the previous two shows were also indoor concerts at Grill House and Thirty3 respectively. The “help team” assembled is a group of friends, who has planned to organise multiple indoor shows/concerts with the same name at different venues and different dates covering many areas of Dhaka. Their grand initiative is a step towards creating a social awareness through which they are collecting funds for the victims of the sad incident.
So far the group has collected funds through friends and families and many of their members were directly involved in rescuing victims from the site of the accident. A large portion of the collected fund so far will be donated to the victims on a personal level, for example, victims in need of prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation or any other type of help will get the particular supports from the fund.
During the rescue mission, the group of friends has provided supplies to the rescuers. Items such as hammers, chisel, rescue goggles, hydraulic car jack, helmets, wall cutter, cutting machines and many more objects were donated to help ease the work of the rescuers. At the Enam Medical College, they have given taka 2000 to each of the 142 patients, along with pillows, blankets, floor mats and refreshments to all present.
