“Kazi Nazrul Islam became a critic of the Khilafat struggle, condemning it as hollow, religious fundamentalism. Nazrul's rebellious expression extended to rigid orthodoxy in the name of religion and politics and he inspired the spirit of protest to conquer independence among the mass. For his praiseworthy attribute, we celebrate the creations of this prodigy, as a part of our heritage.”
On a talk with Dhaka Tribune, Shahin Samad said:
“We want the next generation to know about our culture, pride and legacy. It is important for us to celebrate the legends of our nation in that regard. Our next generation will learn to be patriotic like the prodigies we celebrate, only if we cherish our heritage and let them know about the significance of these noteworthy people. We want every family to discuss and practice on our culture and music.”
The festival is joint collaboration by Grameenphone, Masrangaa and Squre Group of Industries. This is the fifth time Chhayanut will celebrate Nazrul’s Birth anniversary.
