Sajal’s family requests his body to be brought back

Family members of the deceased Bangladeshi mountaineer Sajal Khaled, requested that his body be brought back from Mount Everest at any cost.

They put forward the demand while talking to the media at Sajal’s residence at city’s Khilgaon yesterday.

“Shajal’s wife, Tahmin Khanom Shoili is not in a position to speak. She is losing consciousness and have not eaten anything since we received the news Tuesday,” said a family friend Shyama Sharmin Rahman, while talking to the reporters.

She said, there is only one thing we want that is Sajal’s body. We have come to know of his location (above camp 4) through the Nepalese embassy in Dhaka. But it would take at least $50,000 just to bring the body down.

“We have been contacted by Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, who assured us that the government would do everything possible to bring his body back. We earnestly hope they will keep their promise and honour a national hero,” Shyama said.

She added, Sajal and Shoili got married back in 2009 and have a one and half year old daughter, Shushmi.His father – M Aziz, a retired banker in his nineties does not know that his son died after conquering Everest.

Sajal Khaled, also an aspiring filmmaker died along with another South Korean climber on Tuesday while descending Mount Everest.
