Two smugglers were killed in a clash between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and a gang of smugglers at Koya Frontier under Panchbibi upazila of the district early Wednesday.
The deceased were Rana Ahmed and Mohidul of Ratonpur village under Panchbibi upazila.Joypurhat-3 Rifles battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Shabbir said, “BGB chased a gang of drug smugglers while they were trying to enter Bangladesh territory,” reports banglanews.
Meanwhile, smugglers attacked BGB personnel with arms, forcing them to fire back 12 rounds of bullets, leaving two smugglers critically injured.
Later, they were sent to Joypurhat District Hospital where they were declared dead.
BGB personnel seized 200 bottles of phensidyl from the spot.
