JS body for monitoring foreigners' arrival, departure

Update : 08 Aug 2016, 07:20 PM
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Private Member's Bills and Resolutions recommended the home and foreign ministries to monitor the arrival and departure of foreigners. It also suggested that houses rented out to foreigners should be in correspondence with the validity of their visas. Ruling Awami League's Mohammad Israfil Alam MP made the recommendations while discussing on “Foreigners Registration Bill-2015” in the parliament on Monday. On November 18 last year, Israfil placed the bill in Parliament with a proposal to form “Foreigners' Registration Cell” under the Home Ministry. After the meeting, Israfil said: “The committee has recommended not to place the bill in Parliament. It suggested the home and foreign ministries to monitor the issues as the main issue of the bill is very important.” In a media statement, the committee said, “The issue is very important as crimes were committed by some foreigners and dual citizens. That is why a monitoring system of foreigners arrival and staying here should be strengthened with the coordination of foreign and home ministries.”
