The National Museum observed International Museum Day yesterday, under the theme “Museums (memory and creativity) - Social Change”.
A rally was brought out in the morning in which Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu took part. The minister said everyone has to come to the museum to find out about the nation’s roots. He also stressed the need of developing the collection of the museum so that the new generation can feel the nation’s history and strengthen their future lives with patriotism.
After the inauguration session a seminar on “Biological and Environmental Deterioration Effects on Organic Materials and their Control” was held at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium at the museum. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan was present as the chief guest.
Museum’s Director General Prakash Chandra Das delivered the welcome speech at the seminar which was chaired by the museum’s board of trustees president M Azizur Rahman.
A discussion and cultural programme was also held in the evening.
