One-to-one with the glamourous Reetu Sattar

Update : 19 May 2013, 04:17 AM

Actress Reetu A Sattar has already established her forte in the theatre scene since her debut in Prachyanat’s "A Man for All Seasons." Gradually she appeared into TV and silver screen and created a distinguished position. Her bold performance in the film “Meherjan” demonstrated the excellence of the artiste. Dhaka Tribune had the opportunity to catch up with the actress:

What are you working on right now?

Well, right now I am not working on anything as I am “busy being a mum,” to my two month old son Mikael. I feel like I have been transferred into a different universe, I have learned the meaning of unconditional love and feel empowered and complete as a woman. That is why I named my son Mikael (angel of blessings) as he came into my life as a blessing from the Almighty.

But at the same time I cannot wait to get back to work as I miss the hectic work life.

Which area of acting do you prefer?

I love acting in general. All the genres are appealing to me, but I enjoy working in film and theatre more. Working up the courage to act live in front of a crowd is so much more thrilling and challenging. There is a depth and different spectrum in theatre that cannot be found in TV. But, I also think an actor should be open to all options before choosing a particular medium and should try every path with wholehearted enthusiasm.

I discovered my love and passion for acting through playing the character of Mastura from Prachyanat’s play “Koinna.” It is the character that moved me the most and I realised then, that I cannot live without acting. This character was a turning point in my career.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Wow, tough question to answer as I have set my goals in awe-inspiring dimensions. Firstly I would like to push myself to the limit to test out my capabilities. I feel that my full potential has never been explored and I have much more to offer in the acting front from what I have delivered so far.

I want to establish myself as a strong and respectable actor, want to explore stage further with challenging characters and talented actors. I am also interested in designing solo-plays. I want to work in the development of the theatre so that we can be competent enough to compete internationally.
