Record breakers from the 8th Bangladesh Games will receive an award of Tk100,000 from Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) in a ceremony this June, said BOA acting general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku yesterday. BOA general secretary Syed Shahed Reza initially made the declaration at the halfway stage of the Games. Sixteen days after the Games ended, the athletes are yet to be awarded. "We are in no hurry. We are planning to give the award to the players who broke records in an entertaining ceremony in June. The acting general secretary will be available in June," said Miku who is serving the BOA general secretary post on the absence of Shahed Reza who is currently in Kuwait. BOA plans to hold the event at the National Sports Council (NSC) auditorium. Miku also said that BOA will be busy in June as there will be Olympic Day run on June 23. The AGM could also be held in June for the first time in the history of Bangladesh Olympic Association. A total of 26 records were set at the 8th Bangladesh Games in swimming, shooting, athletics, archery and weightlifting disciplines.
