A three-day Rabindra Festival featuring music, dance and discussion has begun at Shahzadpur Kuthibari, the historic reminder of Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, who used to run his estates from there.
The festival marks the 152nd birth anniversary of the poet, as well as the centenary of the bestowal of Nobel Prize on the poet. The ongoing festival is a turning point this year as the government has started the process to establish Rabindra University, a long standing demand of the people of this region.
Potazia, Perkola and Routara of the upazila , around the Kuthibari of Rabindranath is selected as possible sites for the University, Potazia is part of the poet’s hereditary property.
The festival was inaugurated by the newly elected Speaker of parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and to the Prime Minister, HT Imam was also present at the concluding ceremony.
