Swapnodal to donate proceeds of stage show to Savar victims

Update : 07 May 2013, 03:40 AM

To extend a helping hand to the Savar tragedy survivors, theatre troupe Swapnodal will stage its popular production “Hargoj,” directed by Zahid Repon, on May 8 at 7pm in the Experimental Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Pioneering playwright Selim Al Deen’s narrative “Hargoj” is based on a true story that depicts the suffering of people in a village named Hargoj in Manikganj in 1989, during the aftermath of a tornado that destroyed the livelihood of the village. Through this play, he not only portrayed the massacre left by in the wake of the tornado, but addresses the question of rescues in terms of humanity.

The play revolves around a rescue team that arrives at the tornado-hit village, and shows the devastation that shatters the lively locale of farmers, killing hundreds of people and damaging a large part of the area.

The previous situation of Horgoj mirrors the current Savar tragedy scenario. Keeping that in mind, Swapnodol dedicated their show for the victims, and to support them financially.
