Dhriti Nartyanalay will present Tagore’s outstanding dance drama Shyama with a combination of a big number of classical genres on the birth anniversary of the Nobel Laureate poet on May 8.
The dance drama is choreographed by Warda Rihab, who has already made strong buzz in the dance arena by presenting the dance dramas “Tasher Desh,” and “Hey Anonto Punya” with the fusion of many dance types very innovatively.
About the dance drama Warda Rihab said: “Audience has seen me to do a lot of experiment but this time, it will be a blend of Bharatnatyam, Orissi, Monipury, Kathak, Kothakoli and more. However, the interesting part of the one-hour production will be the fusion of Rajasthan folk dance style. The costumes have designed with many motifs of Rajasthan.”
Earlier, Warda and her group staged Shyama in Monipury style for several times.
"Shyama" is essentially a romantic tragedy, though there are two love stories intertwined: that of Shyama and Bajra Sen, who at first search for their ideal and the unexpressed, unrequited love that Uttiyo has for Shyama which leads Uttiyo to sacrifice himself for her happiness.
