Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the site of the collapsed Rana Plaza at around 9:30am today, where the second phase of rescue operations started last night.
She visited the spot six days after the incident which occurred Wednesday morning.
The collapse of the building that housed five garment factories left 374 people dead and 2,451 injured.
During her short stay at the site, she inquired about the progress of the rescue operation.
Savar Cantonment GOC Maj Gen Chowdhury Hasan Suhrawardi of the ninth Infantry division briefed her about the updates and the progress of the rescue operation during the last six days.
Health minister AFM Ruhul Haq, disaster management minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, state minister for local government Jahangir Kabir Nanak, and higher ranked defence officials accompanied her during the visit.
After her visit she left for Savar Cantonment Combined Military Hospital.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina visited those injured from the collapse admitted to Enam Medical College and Hospital. She consoled the patients and assured them of proper treatment.
