Police filed a case against eight people including cameramen of Diganta and Somoy televisions for provoking pickets to torch a truck at Silimpur in Bogra during an eight-hour shutdown.

The shutdown was enforced by the Jamaat-e-Islami in Rajshahi division on Sunday.

The pickets torched the watermelon-laden truck stationed at a petrol pump adjacent to Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital around 9:30am.

ShahidAlam, officer-in-charge of Bogra Sadar police station, confirmed the incident.

Police said cameramen of Diganta and Somoy televisions Selim and Lal Miah instigated the pro-shutdown activists to torch the truck.

The Jamaat-e-Islami called the strike from 6am to 2pm demanding release of the party’s city unit Ameer M AbulHashem and justice of the killing of Shibir activist Asgar Ali Limon.
