Nandikar, a leading Chittagong based theatre troupe, is going to hold a five-day theatre festival from today evening at the auditorium of the Chittagong Shilpakala Academy, said a press release.
With the slogan "Srijon O Songramer 22 Bochhor" (22 years of creativity and struggle), the troupe is organising the festival in celebrating its 22 years journey in the country's theatre arena.
The festival features acclaimed productions of popular theatre troupes such as Arindam Natya Sampradaya, Uttaradhikar, Theatrewala Repertory, Theater Art Unit and Palakar.
The event will open with the staging of Arindam's "Kobi" based on Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay's classic novel with the same title and is directed by Simon Zakaria. Uttaradhikar will present "Sampan Naiya," written by Aminur Rahman Mukul and directed by Moslem Uddin Sikder.
Thetrewala Repertory production “Shylock and Sycophants” and Theatre Art Unit's "Amina Sundori" will be staged respectively on the third and fourth day of the festival.
The programme will conclude with the showcase of Palakar's recent production "Narigan," written by Syed Shamsul Haque and directed by Ataur Rahman.
