2 engineers of Savar municipality held

Police held two engineers of Savar municipality for allegedly issuing clearance certificate to Rana Plaza without proper inspection.

The arrestees are-Entemam Hossain, executive civil engineer of Savar municipality and his junior colleague Md Alam Miah.

Sources said a team of DB police arrested Entemam and Alam from the area at about 12 pm and took them to its headquarters at Mintu road in the capital.

Savar thana OC Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday. 

Earlier, two of the owners of five readymade garment factories housed in Rana Plaza were arrested on surrender.

The garment owners Mahmudur Rahman Taposh and Bazlus Samad Adnan surrendered to police yesterday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday ordered the law enforcement agencies to arrest Sohel Rana, owner of Rana Plaza, and the owners of five garment factories which were housed in that building.

Over 300 people, mostly female garment workers, were killed while more than 2,500 were injured as the eight-storey Rana Plaza collapsed on Wednesday in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
