Despite catching a lot of flak for not taking a stand and not doing enough to curtail recent unrest, I think the government has been doing a pretty good job. While not entirely ideal, I think without the government’s interventions, the situation would have already escalated to a much greater degree. I think all those who are criticising do not appreciate the difficulties faced by the authorities and stand on one side or another of the issue. The government has successfully played a balancing game in this situation, and should be duly commended.
