PM rejects all new formulas for polls

Update : 13 Apr 2013, 09:31 AM

Rejecting all new formulas for holding the next general election under a non-partisan interim government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said that these formulas will only create complexities instead of resolving problems.

“New formulas will create more complexities in the country…these won’t helpful strengthen democracy,” she said.

Hasina, also the President of the ruling Awami League, made the remarks while making her opening speech in a views-exchange meeting with the grassroots-level leaders from Pabna district at her official residence Ganobhaban, reports UNB.

The Prime Minister made the statement a day after Transparency International Bangladesh put forward an ‘11-member polls-time government’ formula to conduct the next general election in a free, fair and neutral manner to avert the ongoing political crisis.
