Bangladesh Bank has decided to send a team to the Philippines to assist the Bangladesh ambassador in Manila provide information to the country's Senate committee.
The two-member team consists of Jaker Hossain, deputy general manager of the central bank's accounting and budgeting department, and Mohammad Abdur Rab, joint director of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit.
They would fly for the Philippines on Saturday for a week-long visit, according to a source.
“We are sending the team to the Philippines based on the requirement of the Bangladesh ambassador to the country,” said BFIU General Manager Debaprosad Debnath.
He said the team members would help the ambassador with information, explaining technical terms and other moves that need to be taken.
Earlier, these same officials visited the Philippines for two weeks in connection with the digital heist of $101m.
Debnath said a part of the stolen money has been tracked but more time was needed to bring it back through legal procedures.
Currently, the ambassador, Maj Gen (Retd) John Gomes, is coordinating with the Philippine Senate Blue Ribbon Committee for its investigation into the fund heist.
