Three people were killed in a clash between two member candidates in the Bauria Union Parishad election at Sandwip upazila in Chittagong.
The deceased are Sanaullah, 26, Ibrahim, 25, and Jamal, 50,
Executive Magistrate Md Obaidur Rahman confirmed the deaths to Dhaka Tribune.
At least five others, including a police constable, received bullet wounds during the clash that took place around 3:45pm on Thursday.
The executive magistrate said the supporters of a member candidate occupied Char Bauria Government Primary School centre.
A clash ensued when the supporters of another member candidate tried to bar them, leaving the three dead on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
