A college student was killed and two others were injured when a truck collided head-on with their motorcycle on the Jessore-Manirampur road under Jessore Sadar upazila.
The accident took place at the Satighat-Kamalpur intersection of the road on Saturday morning.
The body of Saifullah, 22, a student of Manirampur Degree College, was sent to the 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Saifullah is the son of Mafizur Rahman, Imam of the Manirampur thana Jame Mosque.
The injured Masud and Mahfuzur Rahman were admitted to the hospital in critical condition, said the on-duty doctors.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Elias Hossain confirmed the incident, and said Saifullah and his two friends, riding on a motorcycle, were on their way to the district town from Manirampur around 9:30am when a truck coming from the opposite direction hit their vehicle at the intersection.
Saifullah died instantly on the spot and the truck soon escaped. Later, police recovered the body.
