A driver and his helper have been burnt to death when their truck caught fire after ramming into a covered van in the district's Chandina upazila.
The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
Witnesses said the incident took place around 3pm Friday in front of the Kutumbpur Govt Primary School on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
In-charge of Eliotganj highway police outpost SI Kazi Moniruzzaman said: “The CNG cylinder of the sand-laden vehicle exploded when it hit another vehicle.
“The driver and his assistant were stuck inside the truck and burnt alive.”
The bodies have been sent to Chandina Upazila Health Complex morgue.
