At least nine people have been injured as some supporters of member candidates at two Union Parishads under Kamalnagar upazila in Lakshmipur were locked in a clash over the seize of polling stations.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning.
In Turabganj union, unruly supporters of member contestants Abdul Matim, who adopted the cock as his symbol, and Momtaz Uddin, the fan, tried to take control of Uttar Char Pagla Government Primary School voting centre around 9am, leading to a fierce clash.
Two blasts were reported in the clash which left six people from both sides injured. Police detained two people from the spot.
Earlier in Hajirhat union around 3am, supporters of two member candidates engaged in a chase and counter-chase on the aforesaid ground, leaving three people injured.
The three were admitted to the local health complex.
Kamalnagar police station Officer-in-Charge Kabir Hossain confirmed both incidents and said police soon brought the situation under control.
