A minor girl was killed in a clash between the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and locals at Moshajan Noabad village in Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Tasfia Akter, 1.
Local sources said a group of BCL activists led by Musa, Sabbir and Roni had been lifting sand from the Khoai River in the village illegally.
The BCL men swooped on the villagers with local weapons as the villagers tried to protest against the sand lifting on the day.
At least ten of the villagers got injured while Tasfia died on the spot.
Md Nazimuddin, officer-in-charge of Habiganj Model police station, said on information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue.
