First-ever insurance fair kicks off tomorrow

Update : 21 Mar 2016, 06:30 PM

Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) is going to host a three-day-long insurance fair beginning tomorrow at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.

M Shefaq Ahmed, chairman of IDRA, came up with the announcement at a press conference held yesterday at the authority’s headquarters.

The Insurance Fair 2016, first time ever in the country’s history, will kick off on March 23 and continue up to March 25 in the capital.

Shefaq said the fair has been arranged with an aim to make people aware about insurance as well as advertise insurance products.

For this year, the fair will be held centrally but later spread out to divisional and district levels, he said.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith is expected to inaugurate the fair.

Over 1,000 insurance clients will be paid of their insurance claims at the fair. Unemployed youngsters will get insurance job information at the fair. The fair will remain open from 10am to 8pm every day for visitors.

Quddus Khan, member of IDRA, said the fair has been arranged following the national insurance policy.

The initiative will be helpful to remove wrong perception about insurance among the mass people.

He said the insurance sector in Bangladesh is lagging far behind in comparison with developed countries.
