A possible candidate of chairman post in Union Parishad election has been shot dead by unidentified assailants at Galenga under Ruma upazila in Bandarban.
The deceased is Shanti Tripura. He was a former member of Jonoshonghoti Samity.
Ruma OC Sharifur Rahman said: “The assailants called Shanti out of his house and shot him dead around 3am Monday.”
He said police were trying to arrest the culprits.
