Update : 20 Mar 2016, 09:53 AM

A team of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has assured the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team of providing assistance in the investigation into Bangladesh Bank fund heist.

The FBI team made the assurance during a meeting with CID officials at CID headquarters in the capital's Malibagh on Sunday afternoon, Additional Deputy Inspector General Md Shah Alam said.

"We will work with FBI to identify the computer from which the hacking command was made alongside our effort to recover the stolen money," DIG Shah Alam said.

On February 4, hackers stole more than $101 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and wired it to a number of bank accounts in the Philippines and Sri Lanka.

On February 29, Philippines daily the Inquirer broke the story of a possible $100m digital bank robbery of the BB fund.

On behalf of the central bank, its Joint Director (accounts and budgeting department) Jubair Bin Huda filed the case against unidentified people with Motijheel police on Tuesday. Later the case was transferred to the CID. A Dhaka court has set April 19 for submission of the investigation report before it.
