A Dhaka court has sent Adabor SI Ratan Kumar Howlader to jail in a case filed for sexually harassing a female student of a private university.
Dhaka Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal 4 Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed passed the order after SI Ratan surrendered before the court on Sunday morning.
SI Ratan's counsel Saidur Rahman Manik submitted a bail petition with the court while Special Public Prosecutor Md Forkan Mia opposed the bail.
After hearing, the court rejected the bail petition and ordered to sent the accused to jail.

The same court on February 16 issued arrest warrant against SI Ratan.
Earlier, the allegation of sexual harassment raised against SI Ratan was found true in the judicial probe report.
The investigation report said SI Ratan Kumar Howlader took ASA University student into a shop in capital's Japan Garden City in Shekerteck and opened her jacket and handbag.
He ordered the shop owner to leave following shuttering down his shop and he sexually harassed her in the name of searching yaba tablets.
The incident took place on January 31 and the following day, the case was filed with the tribunal.
